What Our Students Say<<Previous
"Sarah and I became friends when my 15-year old dog, Scottie, was very ill and I was having to make the decision of putting him down. Sarah was a great comfort to me at that time. After Scottie was gone I was devastated. My daughter called from Southern California to tell me she had found a stray dog but that she could not find her a home. Sight unseen, I accepted immediately and my daughter brought this funny little dog up to me on my birthday in November. At first it was all love and fun. Then we discovered that Midge was 90% love and 10% aggressiveness (my estimates). We had another dog (Holly) in our home and Midge decided that Holly should go and she should be an only dog. Sarah had told me that she would help when I accepted Midge and it was not long before I was on her doorstep pleading HELP! "With Sarah's help and encouragement, we are currently working on a behavior modification program. Without this help, I probably would have had to make another difficult decision - this one regarding Midge's future with our family. We still have a way to go, but with Sarah's assistance, I am confident that Midge will be fully integrated into our family." -- Shirley Claflin (Midge's Person)
"My experience with Sarah Richardson as a trainer was a wonderful blessing. It can best be explained by my two furkids Bailey, my sheltie and Guinness, my border collie rescue. "When I first adopted Guinness from the shelter he was all skin and bones with his fur falling out...but oh so cute and lovable... And oh so bad. Nothing meant anything to him... NO manners, Dennis the Menace in canine form... "He was a typical border collie, chasing after anything that moved...not recalling...even herding me with bruises and blood...but hey he was still such a sweet guy... Enter Sarah Richardson... I brought Guinness to her class and he was magically transformed.... "She worked with me too, encouraging me all the way... Because of the thoroughness of her teaching, I myself am interested in dog training... She always told me that dog training is not only about dogs but about teaching people too... And she is right... By the end of her classes, (because I so enjoyed them, I took it twice), Guinness was amazing, he could sit with distractions, stay, etc. One could not imagine that he was the same dog that I had adopted from the pound... But there he was, a big black and white ball of fur dyanamo that was under control... Thank you Sarah.
"Bailey (my sheltie) also went to her classes, and I believe that this was the first step in him loosening the chains of being shy. Today Bailey and Guinness are working at agility and obedience titles... "Sarah's classes started them off on the right paw, and foot in my case. Any person would be blessed to have her as a trainer because your relationship with your dog can only progress to true friendship when you can communicate to him/her in that great art of positive reinforcement dog training." -- Christine Johnson (Guinness and Bailey's
Person)
