Quinn and Molly

"The Canine Connection is the place to train your dog if you want to have fun, learn, and teach all at the same time. It was great to learn about positive reinforcement rather than negative approaches. I can't wait to continue with the next class! Thank you Sarah!"

  -- Quinn Mendez (Molly's person)

"I've been through two other dog training programs with my previous dog and always got frustrated and angry when commands and behaviors didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. At the Canine Connection training center my puppy, Maddi, and I are learning together. It's a positive reinforcement program that has enhanced my patience and control. Maddi is responding to the training and showing carryover. She is also enjoying the socialization with other puppies. This is a program I would recommend to any dog lover."

Valerie and Obie

"Obie learned to heel amazingly fast, and likes it!"

  -- Valerie Miller (Obie's person)

"The positive approach to obedience training works well - I've been telling friends how pleased I am with Sarah's classes."

Sunny and Xena

"My Yorkie, Xena, learned how to learn. And I was given the tools to teach her in a very exciting way. This way of learning for pets is just plain ol' fun for them. They learned quickly and respond well to this method! I'm so glad I found Sarah and The Canine Connection!

"P.S. It's not just fun for the pet, it's fun for whoever is training the pet too!"

  -- Sunny Clumpus (Xena's person)

"At The Canine Connection you learn how to relate to your dog on their level - with love, kind and firm limit-setting, mutual respect, and a whopping dose of humor!"

Colleen and John, with Kyle and Cameron

"The training sessions with Sarah were great fun for all of us! Her positive training methods quickly built a bond of trust and friendship between us and our new puppy, who went from being somewhat shy and cautious to being confident and comfortable with new people and new situations. I think there's no better method for teaching a dog of ANY temperament to be a happy and obedient and appreciated member of your family."

-- Colleen DeLaney (Cameron and Kyle's person)

"Sarah was a godsend when a stray from the park came to live with my dog Ben and me. Jerry didn't know very much about life in a house. Sarah quickly helped him to settle in, and soon had him sitting and acting calm (instead of jumping on people and the counters). She understands dogs and can see the world through their eyes. The approaches she takes really work and make life fun and rewarding for both dog and owner."

Jodi and Christopher with Kirby and Cooper

"The class was a wonderful way to improve our relationships with both our dogs. They now listen! Thank you, Sarah."

Midge and Shirley

"Sarah and I became friends when my 15-year old dog, Scottie, was very ill and I was having to make the decision of putting him down. Sarah was a great comfort to me at that time. After Scottie was gone I was devastated. My daughter called from Southern California to tell me she had found a stray dog but that she could not find her a home. Sight unseen, I accepted immediately and my daughter brought this funny little dog up to me on my birthday in November. At first it was all love and fun. Then we discovered that Midge was 90% love and 10% aggressiveness (my estimates). We had another dog (Holly) in our home and Midge decided that Holly should go and she should be an only dog. Sarah had told me that she would help when I accepted Midge and it was not long before I was on her doorstep pleading HELP!

"With Sarah's help and encouragement, we are currently working on a behavior modification program. Without this help, I probably would have had to make another difficult decision - this one regarding Midge's future with our family. We still have a way to go, but with Sarah's assistance, I am confident that Midge will be fully integrated into our family."

Christine and Guinness

"My experience with Sarah Richardson as a trainer was a wonderful blessing. It can best be explained by my two furkids Bailey, my sheltie and Guinness, my border collie rescue.

"When I first adopted Guinness from the shelter he was all skin and bones with his fur falling out...but oh so cute and lovable... And oh so bad. Nothing meant anything to him... NO manners, Dennis the Menace in canine form...

"He was a typical border collie, chasing after anything that moved...not recalling...even herding me with bruises and blood...but hey he was still such a sweet guy... Enter Sarah Richardson... I brought Guinness to her class and he was magically transformed....

"She worked with me too, encouraging me all the way... Because of the thoroughness of her teaching, I myself am interested in dog training... She always told me that dog training is not only about dogs but about teaching people too... And she is right... By the end of her classes, (because I so enjoyed them, I took it twice), Guinness was amazing, he could sit with distractions, stay, etc. One could not imagine that he was the same dog that I had adopted from the pound... But there he was, a big black and white ball of fur dyanamo that was under control... Thank you Sarah.

Guinness and Bailey

"Bailey (my sheltie) also went to her classes, and I believe that this was the first step in him loosening the chains of being shy. Today Bailey and Guinness are working at agility and obedience titles...

"Sarah's classes started them off on the right paw, and foot in my case. Any person would be blessed to have her as a trainer because your relationship with your dog can only progress to true friendship when you can communicate to him/her in that great art of positive reinforcement dog training."

-- Christine Johnson (Guinness and Bailey's Person)

Rugby

"Wow!! Things have surely changed for the better since I first started obedience training my dogs in the 70's. The 'training style of the era' that I encountered back then was choke collar jerking, forcing one's dog into position, and drill, drill, drill until the dog was bored with it all. After those sessions, I was stressed, and my dog was as well.

"However, the positive training methods Sarah teaches offer effective, pleasant results. Her class is fun! It was delightful and so informative in regards to positive training. One learns how the animal thinks, and while desired results may take a little longer, the trust one earns from one's dog is well worth the added time and patience required."

   -- Joy Robinson (Rugby's Person)
