Bidwell Bark Club
What? The Bidwell Bark Club is a dog walking group for positive
trainers. We walk, we talk, we exercise and socialize our dogs.
When? Saturday mornings at 9:00 am
Where? We meet at the bridge at "One Mile". One
Mile is accessible from the corner of Vallambrosa and Arbutus. There
is plenty of parking there, a port-a-potty, and a place to pick
up poop bags for your dog.
Why? Because walking is good for the heart, and walking
with nice people and dogs is a good for the soul (and those are
just the benefits for us - just think of the benefits for your dog!)
What else? Sometimes we even do brunch!
Who? The Club is open to anyone who uses positive training
methods (or would like to learn how to use them) and wants to join
us. We ask that members please comply with the rules of dog etiquette
while in Bidwell Park:
- Keep your dog out of the "no dog areas" around One
Mile.
- Carry several poop bags and always clean up after your
dog.
- Be aware of other park users. Please ensure that others can
have safe and comfortable passage around us on roads and walkways.
This is important EVERYWHERE and ESPECIALLY on bridges and narrow
walkways.
- Keep your dog on leash - and please no retractable leashes.
- Practice positive training methods! Please - no choke or prong
collars!
Red Bandana Brigade: Many dogs do not like other dogs bouncing
into their faces because they are fearful of other dogs, or simply
like their personal space. And many dogs, especially puppies, like
to bounce. If you have a dog that is sensitive to dog-in-face behaviors,
please dress your dog in a red bandana so others know to respect
his boundaries. This doesn't mean he's a bad dog. It just means
he does have boundaries. (Come to think of it, I should probably
wear a red bandana on those mornings when I haven't had my coffee
<G>).
