FOR PUPPIES (to 5 months)
Puppy Socials
 |
 |
Gracie, current Puppy Kindergarten student, and Cooper, Puppy Kindergarten grad, say “hello” at Puppy Social hour.
|
|
Puppy Socials are designed to give puppies opportunities to play with their puppy peers. This program is so much fun, for dogs AND their people, and is also important for building dog-dog play skills. Puppies between 10 weeks and 6ish months old, who meet our vaccination requirements, can come on out and meet and greet other puppies, and play, play, play!
Time: 6 - 7 PM, every Thursday
Cost: $10 drop-in fee
Vaccination Requirements: Pups must have completed at least two of their parvo-distemper vaccinations (often called DHPP) and have received a bordetella vaccination to participate in Puppy Social. These vaccinations must have been administered at a veterinary office. Many puppy vaccination packages do not include the bordetella vaccination so please ask your veterinarian about this additional vaccination. Please bring documentation of vaccinations to your first session or ask your veterinarian to FAX them to us at 345-1939.

Puppy Kindergarten (for puppies 11 to 20 weeks old at first week of class)
Puppy Kindergarten is our flagship small-group class, built on the latest knowledge about puppy development and behavior. In Puppy Kindergarten, pups build their relationship with you, while experiencing positive interactions with other pups and people. Puppy Kindergarten helps your puppy develop the foundation for good socialization and manners while you develop your puppy parenting skills.
Lessons cover:
- Basic puppy obedience, including attention, sit, down, stand, settle, wait, stay, walking nicely on a leash, come when called, polite greetings, and leave it
- Positive socialization with other dogs and people
- Solutions to puppy challenges such as housetraining, chewing, biting, and jumping
- Effective leadership and puppy parenting
- Games and playtime that make learning fun
- And much more!
Time: Once a week for 7 weeks. The first session, known as our “Training Toolkit Seminar” is an orientation to canine behavior and training (this session lasts approximately 2½ hours and pups stay home). Sessions 2-7 include the pups, of course; these sessions last approximately one hour.

- Six group sessions with puppies (Sessions 2-7)

"An excellent class! I feel like I understand so much more about my dog and what motivates his behavior. At the Canine Connection I learned some very valuable tools that I'll be able to use to continue training my dog throughout his lifetime."

- You need help with behavior problems such as fear, anxiety, aggression, or unusually difficult housetraining situations.
- Your schedule or situation prevents participation in our group classes.
- You have specific training goals, such as service dog tasks, that go beyond our group class curriculum.
- You have very small children who you want involved in the training process.
- You want to build a foundation with private training before coming into our Puppy Kindergarten class.
- Your dog is too young (i.e. under 11 weeks) for group class.
Cost: $90 per session at training center; $100 per session at your home (approx. 1 hour)*.
* Additional rates apply to Durham, Paradise, Magalia, Hamilton City, and other areas.
Please note: We strongly believe that the best ongoing training experience for your puppy is our Puppy Kindergarten class which builds your relationship with your puppy while building a platform of positive socialization.
