Bowser's Doggie Day Camp
This summer, our training center was transformed into a fun doggie day camp. Our canine campers experience healthy play with other dogs, stimulating toys and agility, obstacles, wholesome treats, relaxing rest, and reinforcement of good manners, all supervised by our skilled and attentive staff. Camp runs Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM, July 14 through August 13. At the end of the morning, campers go home happy, relaxed, and better socialized. For more information about enrolling your dog in Bowser’s Doggie Day Camp, please call 345-1912 or email office@thecanineconnection.com. Click here to see the camp photo album!

Levels Obedience – A New Approach!
The Canine Connection has launched a whole new format for our teen/adult obedience classes – one that is self-paced, flexible, motivating, and (as always) fun! The Levels program integrates our foundation, basic, intermediate, and advanced obedience into one cohesive program with four levels of skill and training. As soon as you’ve mastered one level you’ll be graduated to the next, all at your own pace and in a way that works with your own schedule. Learn more about this exciting program here!
Small Dog Obedience
We are now offering Small Dog Obedience Basics. This class has been a huge success for our petite pooches and their people! This class follows the same curriculum as our regular Obedience Basics class, but is just for dogs 25 pounds or less. Our next Small Dog Obedience Basics class begins Tuesday, October 14. Register now to reserve your place!
Canine Freestyle
Canine Freestyle is taking off at The Canine Connection! This fabulous activity, based on creative heeling and moves with your dog, builds teamwork and attention like nothing else! And it’s all choreographed to music! Watch this video of top competitor Carolyn Scott, and her dog, Rookie, showing off freestyle at its best! Beginning in January 2008, our classes will incorporate the exemplary freestyle curriculum created by another top competitor, Judy Gamet. Our next Level 1 class begins Monday, September 8 – register here to reserve a place! Because this class is part of our “Continuing Ed” program, dogs and their people must be current or former students of The Canine Connection or have instructor approval.
"For Students Only"
Students enrolled in our classes can now access class and other materials online. Register you and your dog here. Now you never have to worry about misplaced homework or handouts. Class material is only a click away.

Whole Dog Journal Features Dr. Sarah and Her Dogs!
We are thrilled that Whole Dog Journal has taken notice of The Canine Connection! Recent issues of this national magazine have featured photos of Dr. Sarah and her dogs, and some of her clients and their dogs! And, in Whole Dog Journal’s first ever calendar, Deveron, Dr. Sarah’s “Director of Animal Magnetism”, stole a leading spot.
While we love that we’ve been featured in the magazine, the best part of Whole Dog Journal is the wealth of information it provides. This truly is the BEST monthly source of information on holistic health, natural dog care and training for your dog.
If you subscribe to only one magazine, make it Whole Dog Journal. Your dog will thank you! |
Dr. Sarah Writes on “Educating Bowser” for Bay Woof
Bay Woof, a publication that offers “news with a bite for Bay Area dog lovers”, featured Dr. Sarah’s article, “Educating Bowser” in its October 2007 issue. This article introduced readers to different training needs and options for puppies and dogs. Click here to read this article in this fun, informative magazine.
EDUCATING BOWSER
By Sarah Richardson
For canines as well as humans, proper schooling is fundamental to a happy and successful life. Dogs don’t intuitively know how to live in a human world – after all, they are members of another species, and they definitely don’t speak English! Most of the time when we are frustrated with them, it’s because they simply don’t know what to do or how to behave in order to please us. This is why education is crucial... (more)
Playtime for Bowser and Buds!
The Canine Connection will now offer supervised play sessions for dogs. Why? Because healthy play is vital for burning energy and positive socialization - and it’s just plain fun, for dogs and their people! Separate play sessions are offered for four types of dogs:
- Puppy Paws (for puppies under 6 months old)
- Petite Paws (for dogs under 25 pounds, 6 months and older)
- Power Paws (for medium and large dogs who are exuberant players)
- Passive Paws (for medium and large dogs who are quieter, gentler players)
At this time, Playtime is available only to current or former clients whose dogs we know. Please email to inquire about times, dates, and requirements. Please note: guardians must be present during play sessions.
